When my thoughts drive me crazy with worry, I have a new trick to pull me out of the funk. (Well, it’s not really a “trick” – it’s more of a little, calming 3 step “thinking exercise” I let run through my mind.)
The first two lines are all me…over-thinking, over-rationalizing, and over-analyzing. The third line, in its simple beauty, is all Corrie ten Boom.
1. If we do nothing and he continues to struggle, then I will be worried and sad because we didn’t try hard enough.
2. If we do everything and he continues to struggle, then I will be worried and sad because we didn’t find the right path for him.
3. “Worry doesn’t empty tomorrow of its suffering; it empties today of its strength.”
Tomorrow is probably going to be tough again, and it would be useless to worry about it. I need to focus on staying strong. He needs me strong.
M, I love you. Mom
