58: Batten Down the Hatches

Why did I just assume that traditional school “breaks” and “vacations” would look like military breaks? I realize that I should have figured this out earlier, but it just didn’t get done.  Last night we learned from M that Thanksgiving Furlough begins the Saturday before Thanksgiving. But that’s not all we learned from him.

We learned that he thinks smoking pot spices up your life, just like hot sauce spices up Mexican food.  We learned that his involvement with the boys trying to get alcohol was minimal; he just wanted a pack a cigarettes – nothing else. We learned that when he sees his friends next week, he just wants to have a few beers with them.
This is going to be a difficult visit.
